- About Me:
- I'm a professor of communication at Ripon College in Wisconsin. My research for about twenty years has focused on how hate-groups recruit and rally members with various forms of discourse. In 2002, I decided to put my scholarly work to use in developing prevention programs, including Students Talking About Respect (STAR), a non-profit I founded with colleagues. STAR is now part of the National Association of Students Against Violence Everywhere (SAVE). My work in recent years has focused on profiling the lives of former racists, how they got involved with hate gangs as teens and how they since have turned their lives around. One writing project related to that, we've just learned this week actually, soon will be a featured part of SAVE's new college hate/violence prevention program.
