About Me:

Hi all. I've been tyring for several years to help white people resist racism and work to create a multiracial society. I'm white myself. Or European American, or Anglo. But I don't particularly like "Caucasian." Seems to me many people use that term to avoid the term "white." Don't they realize how racist the term "Caucasion" is, coming out of a history of "scientific" racism? For now I use the term "white" becaue I think it's more honest and accessible to people. I think "European American" is probably best in the long run, but folks don't quite know what to do with it yet.

In 1995 I co-founded the Center for the Study of White American Culture. You can see our very outdated website at www.euroamerican.org. Our Center launched the White Anti-racist Community Action Network in 2003, and we now have 1,300+ members. See www.wacan.org. WACAN publishes a bi-weekly newsletter (Oct. thru mid-June) for its members. We may open it up to a wider audience in the fall.

Recently WACAN was one of 3 organizations that planned and carried out the 4th White Anti-racist Summit, where we had 70 people from around the country talking about what they are doing to organize white people against white supremacy.

I wrote a book called "Lifting the White Veil: A examination of white American culture in a white American context."

I hope WORK grows. There is such a need out there. We need another dozen WORKs and WACANs and a million white Americans to stand up publicly to white supremacy. There are 200 million white people inthe US, so getting 1 million together shouldn't be too hard, should it?

We also have to fight the extreme right in Europe (they don't call it white supremacy here, but it's much the same, though I've never heard of burning crosses outside people's houses (maybe because the houses tend to be right on the street, so faeces through the mailbox or a brick through the window is more common)
